The Weekend Is Going Well

This weekend is off to a great start. I took Friday off to take care of some things that needed to be done. I hated the idea of missing work but it was necessary. The plan for Saturday was to go over to Sues Mothers house to get an oak dinning room table and chairs she wants us to have. That plan got changed when Sue decided that table will be going into our kitchen. Other things need to be moved before that's going to happen. A friend is coming over to help me take a kitchen table and our freezer to the basement tomorrow.

Sue and a couple of friends are planning another friends October birthday celebration. So she spent a good deal of time on the phone with old friends Saturday. That is great. For a while it seemed old friends were leaving her out of things. She felt she was being abandoned because of the Alzheimer's diagnoses. Shes been hearing from them more this past week or so. I'd been trying to figure out how to let them know they were hurting her without causing a problem and they started coming around and calling again without me saying a word. Possibly saved me from being the bad guy.

  1. My mom never had friends and always dreaded visitors, so not a problem. I can understand how devasting it could have been. Such things weed out true friends from mere chums.

  2. I'm glad it turned out ok. It is so important for your wife and all those suffering from this disease to be hugged and kissed and loved by friends.

P.S. I don't think you would have been the bad guy at all. Your wife's friends would see what a loving husband she has.

  3. We got all the furniture moved/rearranged and Sue is tickled to have her Mothers old table. Maybe it holds some memories of family meals served at it.

Sue has always been big on keeping in close contact with friends. If she doesn't hear from them every day or two she feels they are mad at her or don't want to be around her for some reason. Developing Alzheimer's seems to have made these feelings/thoughts stronger.

  4. I don't think you could ever be a bad guy . Just a guy looking out for his loved one.Her friends would of understood. But you didn't have to do anything and that is great. Mom never liked company so I don't have that problem. All she ever liked doing is watching her soaps and making quilts.

  5. When it comes to watching TV Sue is a Syfy addict. She also watches clothing fashion and home design programs. Ever other day or so she picks a room and rearranges the furniture.
